I’m Stopping Blogging…
about Blogging at ThomasSinfield.com.
I have been thinking about things and discussing ideas with a few other bloggers, and have come to the decision that starting a blog about blogging with my name as the domain name probably wasn’t the smartest idea. I always aimed to create my blog to be a valuable business - but […]
I Hate Internet Marketers!
Posted In: Tom's Projects, Online Marketing, Make Money Online September 25, 2007
Ok that could be a little bit harsh.
But I am getting really sick of reading sales letters where it shows every single internet marketer sitting in a lamborghini, and photos of a mansion that would cost millions of dollars.
Maybe they do own a lamborghini and live in a mansion that is fully paid off - then good on them.
But I find it hard to believe that every second internet marketer is making an absolute killing online - but don’t feel the need to show some proof.
Internet Marketing is all about hype!
How do you feel about that statement? I mean if you can get their emotions you can make the sale right? I think it is one of the lowest forms of marketing - think about a few of thoughts for a second…
- If they were that rich from the work they have done that they talk about in their ebook - why do they need to even write an ebook?
- If their product was as good as they say it is - do they really need to convince you to buy it? Why not let your customers, and testimonials and product benefits win them over!
Sure they may say things like:
- Now I have learnt, I feel the need to educate others. Sure this may be true for a select few. But for the majority it is about the money (most likely because they are not as successful as they make themselves out to be)
- Hype Sells, people need to be sold to. As I said above, if the product is as good as they make it out to be, the hype about how rich you are should not be needed.
So why the sudden rant?
I am in the process of helping a client launch her first ebook (it is my first as well), and I have been doing quite a lot of market research. Checking out almost every single clickbank product, looking at their website and sales letter, and comparing it to their success.
And I have come to the conclusion that all the gloating about how much money you are making and the flashy cars that you drive don’t really have an impact on the success of your marketing campaign.
Hopefully I can take what I have learnt, and turn my clients product into a success!

Going full-time into internet marketing,
I split my time between my blogs,
affiliate marketing and my blog design
company.
Those scammy eBook offers are the worst! I will be launching my own eBook sometime in the future and certainly will not be taking that route.
I have to agree. I’d like to think that most people are like you and I (able to see through the BS) - but there are undoubtedly some who see nice cars, homes, etc and assume that they too can achieve that sort of status by simply reading an ebook. From what I can tell, it’s nothing short of an addiction for many - trying to find the gold at the end of the rainbow when the reality is it’s there in business, sitting right in front of them through hard work and elbow grease!
I have to agree. The ebook I will be promoting will be taking a completely different path. The author will be providing support to all ebook purchasers and it will be very customer focused.
“Internet Marketers” make money selling stuff online- thats why they need to sell those ebook to make money….
At least the majority of them make tons of money selling info products.
Yes, Internet Marketing is mostly hype, but does it work? Absolutely!
Even I fall for them sometime because it sound soooo good and the price is so low.
The problem becomes that much of it isn’t that good - and most do not make tons of money. In fact, It’s the same small percentage that are making most of the money.
In internet marketing, the 5/95 (5% are making 95% of the income) rule certainly applies.
We hate you too.
Just kidding, and I agree, those common sales pitches are annoying.
PS: Catchy post title, it made me click.
haha! I have been reading about how important a catchy title is, so I thought I would try it!
Glad to know it worked!
but you have a dealdotcom widget prominently displayed on your site, aren’t you promoting many of those scammy internet marketing courses to make a commission?
Currently it shows a niche mastery product on your site and here’s some of the copy “Every year, the Fraternal Order of the Exclusive Secret Society of Internet Marketing Gurus meets deep underground to discuss their strategies.”, lol
I don’t mind the gurus much.
It’s a love-hate relationship, isn’t it? Although, I’m particularly annoyed also with the standard photo with a house, car, dollar bills, …a bit redundant but apparently it must work for the niche markets they go after.
I wholeheartedly agree. And most of those marketers have pages and pages of text telling you about how they are going to “tell you how they did it” but thats all they ever say. There is yet to be an article I’ve read where the writer has actually gotten to the part where they tell me how. Hehe. TO me, its’ just a matter of having a lot of time on your hands, a bit of SEO and marketing knowledge and absolutely NO shame.
Whoa Nice design! I like it - simple and good looking!
Maybe a newbie might have been fooled by all those flashy cars and houses, but for those who had been in the “IM niche” for long enough will know what’s going on.
Well, in my opinion, Internet marketers in IM-niche is mostly hype but not really in other niches eg: health, feng shui, dog training etc.
In fact, I tend to respect a marketer who made his riches in his own specific niche and then tell people how to make money online rather than those who jumped in straight into IM-niche and teach people how to make money. Full of crap.
I couldn’t understand some parts of this article I Hate Internet Marketers!, but I guess I just need to check some more resources regarding this, because it sounds interesting.
